MK Indy Build Diary - Jan 2003
Many people spend Many Many Hours chosing a kitcar
Then they spend Many Many Many Hours Building it for themselves
Then they spend Many: Many Many Many Hours Choosing all the really important
bits (like the colour, the wheels, the seats etc)
THEN they drive it and meet other people who have similar cars and decide they
want to change bits
I'm no different except that, due to reasons abundant on this site, someone
else is going to build it for me.
Namely: PlasticTankMan/Locodude/ChrisGibbons
(one in the same) who now works for
MK Engineering
This diary has now been split into months, please select the various pages from
the top menu.
The Build

The deed is done - deposit paid and the (grinding) wheels are turning (as they
say).

*Kit Piccy* <--
Bought today and delivered tomorrow :o) Kliktronic pushbutton gearchange (and a
free second set of buttons) Thanks Guys
Monday 20/1/03
Martin told me that my chassis was currently on the
jig and was being finished today, then it's off to the powder coaters and it'll
be ready for locodude to start constructing at the end of the week. Yippee!
Seats Ordered Today - Took a risk on a bloke from Stoke (no joke!) has ordered
me 2 Cobra Roadster Seven Seats for an all in delivered price of £330.
Should be here in 2 weeks - I hope they fit! Black Seats with Yellow Trim -
this is to be a recurrent theme by the way.
Tuesday 21/1/03
Spoke to Mr Ison today, he said "I saw your car today", "Was it in one piece?"
i asked, "Err no" came the reply :o(
Saturday 25/1/03
Down to MK again today - my powder coated chassis is there with all its engine
mountings, wishbones and the like, PTM hopes to get 4 full days working on it
next week, he's also currently building Martins own demo car too.
Went through my specifics with Chris (PTM) discussing how to set it up best for
me with using just one arm - shouldn't be too far away from standard (which is
the idea)
Went to Mac#1 at Sheffield and bought my alloys - Team Dynamics Mirage -
15x6.5, I hope they are right - ET38 offset - suitable for all sierra hubs, and
what they fit to the Indys that they build - not the offset that MK suggested -
but NONE of the Team Dynamics Alloys come with ET50 offset! Fingers Crossed.
Jim Sullivan kindly brought his Indy to Mac for me to see - Thanks Jim - Nice
looking Car. Have fully decided on Yellow and black now - Seen one car in the
flesh and one in Pictures and it'll look damn good!
Not sure I'm happy with the engine MK have lined up for me - older than I hoped
- but does away with the need for a cat'. John ison gets 150+ bhp out of his
engine of the same type (heavily modded) but I did want something newer. Hmmm.
